How extreme heat is impacting India?

By CEEW

This multi-dimensional exhibi examines how Indian cities are confronting the challenge of extreme heat. Through a series of films and installations, it foregrounds people-first solutions that are affordable, scalable, and rooted in local contexts, aiming to make communities more resilient to rising temperatures.

The series presents a spectrum of responses, financial safety nets for informal workers, early-warning systems for heat and UV exposure, cool roof technologies for homes, community cooling shelters, and specialised medical units in hospitals. Together, these interventions show how adaptation takes shape through both grassroots ingenuity and institutional frameworks.

Extreme heat already threatens more than half of India’s districts, placing millions at risk. This installation invites visitors to witness stories of resilience and innovation, while underscoring the need for people-centred planning that can meet the escalating challenge of a warming future.
