Memories from the land

By Sa Ladakh

Memories from the Land is a collective journey in textiles, an ever-evolving experience that began with seven artists at the Serendipity Arts Festival in December 2024. By the time it travelled to the Indian Museum in Kolkata in January 2025, it had grown to fourteen voices, carried simply in a bag, and unfolding to fill spaces with art on chiffon.

This regenerative collection of textile works holds stories rooted in landscapes, stretching from the Himalayas to India, Asia, and the United States. Each piece carries memory, voice, and place, layered not only in fabric but also in soundscapes the artists have woven into the experience.

Memories from the Land continues to expand, carrying with it the resonance of connection between people, art, and the environments they call home.
