Ajnuj: A Living Laboratory

By Naoroji Godrej Centre for Plant Research (NGCPR) and Bamboo Ugam

Ajnuj: A Living Laboratory, presented by the Naoroji Godrej Centre for Plant Research (NGCPR) in collaboration with Bamboo Ugam, is an immersive installation inspired by NGCPR’s native plant reserve in Ajnuj, Maharashtra.

Designed as a journey through three interconnected ecosystems, forest, wetland, and grassland, the space invites visitors to slow down, observe closely, and engage with the textures, forms, and rhythms of each habitat. It offers a rich sensory experience that highlights the vital role native plants play in sustaining biodiversity.

Alongside the installation, guests can explore a visual and tactile showcase of NGCPR’s ongoing work: collecting and conserving seeds of native species, reviving wild edible plants, and protecting rare and endemic flora. The environment has been thoughtfully crafted by Bamboo Ugam, a studio known for its bespoke bamboo architecture, products, and furniture.

Visitors are also invited to discover Ajnuj itself, its nature trails, vibrant birdlife and insect worlds, and the living laboratory that anchors NGCPR’s conservation efforts.
