The world we inhabit is increasingly defined by two spirals, both opposed in directions. One spiral exalts, takes us towards higher functioning, allows us to creatively explore and play, do more with less, espouse sustainability and challenges the status quo. The other spiral cements existing hierarchical constructs, deepens mistrust and creates pyramidical hierarchies. It encourages an atmosphere of fear and an irrational tribalistic rejection of anything defined as the 'other'.
The workshop will explore ways in which we can bridge the gap between these opposing spirals using tools like Speculative Fiction, dreaming up possible futures, engaging our senses of humour to overpower the base reptilian amygdala and visualise and inhabit utopias.
