This thought-provoking panel with leading voices will highlight the increasing importance of climate goals as our country progresses towards developed nation status. Implementing climate action plans at the local government level is not just beneficial but essential. At Conscious Collective 2024, we aim to underscore the urgent need for local bodies to think and act locally to help communities combat and build resilience against climate impacts. Here we will discuss the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) climate action plan and its alignment with India’s national climate goals as well as policies to incentivize and drive enterprise behaviour, including financial challenges and constraints faced by industry. Additionally, we will also address issues of equity and inclusivity within these plans and policies. Lastly, the critical role of the common citizen in the action plan is explored - what benefits do they gain, and how can we enhance awareness and engagement?
